Pressure Washing Shingles

Is it a good idea to pressure wash a shingle roof?

Traditional roofing shingles are made with a base mat of material such as paper, cellulose, wood fiber, or other material. That base is then saturated with asphalt (tar and sand or stone) to make it waterproof and add durability.

Additionally, because of the architecture here in Florida many homes have ceramic shingled roofs.

Both types of material have been known to begin breaking down, cracking, or crumbling when hit with a high pressure hose.
